NBC NAMES LISA MELCHING AS VICE PRESIDENT, SCHEDULING & STRATEGIC ANALYSIS

photo preview / download BURBANK, Calif. — December 26, 2002 — Lisa Melching will join NBC Entertainment as Vice President, Scheduling & Strategic Analysis, it was announced today by Mitch Metcalf, Senior Vice President, Program Planning and Scheduling, NBC Entertainment, to whom she will report.

“Lisa’s rich background in research, scheduling and international programming and acquisitions will enable her to make an immediate contribution to NBC,” said Metcalf. “Her creative thinking, long list of contacts throughout broadcast and cable and tenacious personality perfectly suit her for the task ahead.”

Melching arrives in January from G4, where she was Director of Programming for the launch of the Comcast-owned 24-hour digital cable network devoted to video games. There she launched the network and built her department from the ground up and handled scheduling, planning, acquisitions, media planning, and advertising and affiliate sales research.

Prior to G4, Melching was Director, Network Programming (for Europe, Middle East and South Africa) of Walt Disney International Central Broadcasting Group, based in London. She oversaw program planning and scheduling for six international Disney Channels. In addition, she helped launch three multiplex channels in the United Kingdom, and developed programming plans for three future Disney Channels.

While at the U.S. Disney Channel from 1997-99, Melching’s many duties as Senior Manager, Program Planning and Scheduling, included scheduling for all dayparts, managing the nightly movie franchise and episodic series scheduling.

Earlier, Melching worked at Columbia TriStar Domestic Television Distribution as Manager, Network and Cable Research from 1996-97 after a stint as a Research Analyst at Warner Bros. Domestic TV Distribution.

She received separate bachelor of arts degrees in broadcast journalism and political science from Pepperdine University in Malibu, California. She also holds a master of arts degree in communications management from the Annenberg School for Communication at the University of Southern California.

Melching is also a member of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences and enjoys international travel. She resides in Los Angeles.
