NBC continues a holiday tradition with its live, fifth-annual national telecast of the 70th celebration of the world’s most famous Christmas tree in “Christmas in Rockefeller Center,” a star-studded one-hour special from Rockefeller Center in New York City on Wednesday, Dec. 4 (8-9 p.m. ET), hosted by NBC’s “Today” hosts Al Roker and Ann Curry. Viewers will be dazzled by the spectacular lighting of over 30,000 multi-colored bulbs on the 75-year old, seven-ton Norway spruce tree, which towers 76 feet high with branches spanning 43 feet wide.
The popular musical lineup for the special will include a mix of current hits and favorite holiday music with performances by the dazzling Radio City Rockettes; Michelle Branch, who sings a medley of her hits; singer Kelly Clarkson, winner of “American Idol”; Sheryl Crow singing “So This Is Christmas”; Josh Groban singing “O Holy Night”; Barry Manilow singing selections from his new Christmas CD “A Christmas Gift of Love”; Kelly Rowland of pop group “Destiny’s Child” and Carly Simon singing with her son, Ben Taylor. In addition, several stars from NBC hits shows are scheduled to appear including Tom Cavanagh of “Ed,” Goran Visnjic of “ER,” John C. McGinley of “Scrubs,” and Brittany Snow and Vanessa Lengies of “American Dreams.”
