SECAUCUS, NJ — February 11, 2002 — MSNBC not only has a younger viewing audience than CNN and Fox News, but its viewers have higher median household incomes (HH and Total Viewers (P2 )) than both channels during Total Day and Primetime.
MSNBC continues to have a younger cable news audience than CNN and Fox News Channel. In 4Q01, the median age of MSNBCs audience was 50 in Total Day and 51 in Primetime, versus 56 and 59 for CNN & 56 and 58 for Fox News Channel.
In Total Day, MSNBCs 4Q01 median income was $56,518 for households and $55,339 for total viewers. Median incomes for CNN & Fox News Channel were $51,012 and $49,757 and $56,250 and $54,639 respectively.
In Primetime, the median household income of MSNBCs audience was even higher — $58,077 for households and $56,849 for total viewers in 4Q01. CNNs primetime median household income was $49,835 for households and $50,282 for total viewers while Fox News Channels median incomes were $55,367 and $54,635.
