Here are a few of Rebecca’s favorite ideas, with many more on her website, www.rebeccasgarden.com.

GIFT WRAP FROM THE GARDEN

Rebecca Kolls loves getting all “wrapped” up in the holiday season without spending a dime on paper! Instead, she digs through the recycling bin. You’d be amazed what beautiful gift wrap you can create with simple brown paper embellished with greens, berries and dried fruit all tied up in string – it’s gift wrap that everybody will be talking about! And don’t forget the artistic talents from your kids. Let them in on the fun. Arm them with a couple of paintbrushes, brown paper and let ‘em go! It’s gift-wrap that will grow on you!

BLOOMING GIFTS

Speaking of growing, Rebecca loves to give blooming gifts – gifts that will brighten anyone’s day. Some of her favorites include cyclamen, amaryllis and African violets. Or, you can package your own growing surprise. Paint a medium sized pot. Fill it with a baggie filled with soil, paperwhite bulbs and instructions for planting. Cover the pot with a saucer and wrap with ribbon.

For those who want something more exotic, check out orchids. The easiest to grow is the phalaenopsis, otherwise known as the moth orchid. Either way, these gifts are sure to be a blooming success!

POINSETTIAS

Nothing says the holidays quite like the poinsettia! And you won’t believe the variety! They’re not just red anymore! Whether it’s ‘jingle bells,’ ‘monet,’ or ‘candy cane,’ poinsettias now come in an array of colors, shapes and sizes. Rebecca’s website has excellent tips on how to choose your poinsettia and keep it around until next year.

DECORATE SNOW PEOPLE

There’s no need to complain about the snow! Instead of digging out, why not dig in? You’d be surprised what you can do with a little bit of snow and a lot of produce. Rebecca can turn a simple snowman into the finest one in the neighborhood! Using produce such as carrots, beans, olives and peppers and a little imagination puts a new spin on an activity that’s an old holiday favorite!

CHOOSING THE PERFECT PINE

Picking the perfect pine for the holiday is a family tradition in the Kolls’ home. Rebecca helps you understand the varieties and find the perfect tree, make it stay fresh as long as possible and gives tips on what to do with the tree after the holiday cheer. And what about that sap all over your hands? She’s got a simple solution for that too!
