BURBANK, Calif. — January 7, 2003 — NBC Enterprises new first-run series The John Walsh Show continued its climb up the ratings charts in December, gaining ground for the fourth consecutive month of the 2002-2003 season. It is the only syndicated talk show, new or veteran, to post increases over each of the first four months this season.
The John Walsh Show has already been renewed in over 50% of the country for the 2003-2004 season, including renewals from the NBC Owned and Operated stations, as well as stations from Hearst-Argyle.
In December, The John Walsh Show averaged a season-best 2.2 HH rating, according to metered-market data (NBC, CBS and ABC affiliated stations, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.) from Nielsen Media Research. The show debuted with a 1.9 HH average in Sept., followed by a 2.0 HH average in October and jumped to a 2.1 HH in November.
The John Walsh Show has a tremendous amount of momentum from both a ratings stand-point and a production point-of-view as well, says Ed Wilson, President, NBC Enterprises. We knew we had something special when we were developing this show with John and now the ratings are validating that for us.
