NEW YORK — November 26, 2002 — According to Nielsen Media Research data, “NBC Nightly News with Tom Brokaw” continued as the No. 1 network evening news program, outperforming ABC’s “World News Tonight” and CBS’ “Evening News” in all categories for the week of November 18 – 22, 2002. For the week, “Nightly News” averaged 10.786 million viewers, ABC followed with 10.700 million and CBS trailed with 8.781 million. “Nightly News” has now been No. 1 for 17 of the last 18 weeks.

In homes, “Nightly News” was also top-rated, posting a 7.8 rating a 15 share. ABC was second with a 7.6/15 and CBS was third with a 6.3/12.

Among the key demographics women, men and adults 25-54, “Nightly News” won across the board. Specifically among younger viewers (adults 25-54), the Brokaw-anchored newscast had a 3.5 rating, a 9% advantage over ABC’s 3.2, and a 59% lead over CBS’ 2.2 rating. “Nightly News” has now placed first among younger viewers for 60 straight weeks (including two ties).
