NEW YORK — December 19, 2002 — NBC News’ “Today” once again blew away the competition during the week of December 9 -15. The weekly win marks “Today’s” 365th straight week in first place.

For the week of December 9-15, “Today” finished with a 5.0 rating/18 share and 6.2 million viewers. “GMA” was a distant second with a 3.7/14 and 4.7 million viewers. CBS’ “The Early Show” dragged behind with a 2.2/8 and 2.7 million viewers.

Versus the same week a year ago, “Today” was the only network morning show that didn’t decline in homes, total viewers, or adults 25-54.

“Today” outperformed or tied the combined delivery of GMA and CBS among women/adults 18-49 and 25-54. Season-to-date “Today” is outperforming GMA by 1.5 viewers, compared to 1.3 million a year ago, it is the only network morning news show that hasn’t declined in homes or total viewers.

“Today II” continues to grow in double digits versus the same week last season among total viewers, and all key demographics. The third hour of “Today” tied GMA among women/adults 18-49 for the second straight week. It finished the week with a 3.6/14 and 4.3 million viewers. Once again, “Today II” outperformed “The Early Show” across the board in homes, total viewers and all key demos. It also outperformed the View in homes, total viewers and all key demos, and Regis and Kelly among adults 25-54. Season-to-date versus the same time frame last season, “Today II” is up 6% in homes, 8% in total viewers, 11% in women 25-54, and 7% in adults 25-54.
