LIZ FISCHER NAMED DIRECTOR – MEDIA RELATIONS

photo preview / download NEW YORK -– August 6, 2002 — Liz Fischer, Manager of Special Events and Internet for WNBC since August 2000, has been named director of Media Relations – Stations Relations Department, effective August 5. The announcement was made today by Anna Carbonell, Vice President – Stations Relations for the NBC and Telemundo stations in the tri-state area.

Fischer joined WNBC in November 1994 as Press & Publicity coordinator. She was named publicist one year later and was promoted to senior publicist in 1997. In 1998, Fischer was then named Director of Press and Publicity, where she was responsible for WNBC’s media relations, internal communications and special events. Her duties have included handling WNBC’s speaker’s bureau and radio placements, as well as assisting on the station’s overall publicity efforts and special events.

Prior to her career at WNBC, Fischer worked in the Public Affairs department of Hearst Magazines for two years, where she coordinated national business, industry and trade publicity efforts for the company’s 14 magazine titles, including Cosmopolitan and Good Housekeeping.

Fischer is a member of the New York chapter of Women in Communications, Inc. and had served as WNBC’s United Way captain for two years.

She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Lehigh University in Bethlehem, PA and currently resides in Manhattan.
