preview / download NEW YORK — August 20, 2002 — Vicki McDonald, Promotion Manager for WNBC since 1999, has been promoted to Director of Creative Services for the NBC flagship station, effective immediately. The announcement was made today by David Hyman, WNBCs Vice President of Creative Services & Programming, to whom McDonald will report.
In her new role, McDonald will be responsible for WNBCs advertising and promotion efforts, campaign initiatives and the daily operations of the Creative Services department, which is comprised of producers, editors, schedulers and graphic artists.
This is an extremely well deserved promotion, said Hyman. Vicki has been a strong force in the Creative Services department since her arrival, winning numerous awards for creative excellence while at the same time ensuring that the day-to-day functions of the department were running smoothly. She is a tremendous asset both to this department and to this television station.
McDonald brings nearly 15 years of experience in television advertising and promotion to the position. Prior to joining WNBC, McDonald served as promotion manager at WNYW, Fox 5. Before that she was promotion manager at WPIX. She began her New York career as a promotion producer at WCBS-TV. As an independent producer, she counted among her clients American Movie Classics, CBS, the NBC Agency, Grey Media and B/R Creative. Prior to her stint in New York, McDonald served as a special projects and promotion producer in Boston at WHDH-TV.
McDonald is the recipient of numerous awards including two Emmys for Outstanding Promotional Announcements and both Gold and Silver Promax awards. She was recognized in 2001 by the New York State Broadcasters Association for Outstanding Promotional Announcement and in 2002 for Outstanding Public Service Campaign. She is the recipient of both the Boston and Harlem YMCAs Black Achievers Awards for dedication to public service.
A native of Cambridge, Massachusetts, McDonald attended Wellesley College and currently resides in Manhattan.
