preview / download Chicago, IL – September 30, 2002 – Zoraida Sambolin is joining the NBC 5 staff as co-anchor of the 11 a.m. news. She will anchor the 11 a.m. with Art Norman. She will also report weekly on the afternoon newscasts on education and family issues. Zoraida takes over on the 11a.m. news from Nesita Kwan, who will continue to anchor NBC 5’s 5-7 a.m. morning newscast and focus on special projects.
Zoraida was the creator and Emmy award-winning host of “Small Talk for Parents” on WYCC-TV and “Nuestros Ninos” on WSNS-TV from 1999 to 2002. These series covered a wide range of topics specifically of interest to those with children from birth to age eight. They included the latest research in early childhood issues, current trends in education, childcare, health, safety and expert advice. Prior to hosting these programs, Zoraida was Director of Broadcasting for the Chicago City Colleges.

Zoraida attended Loyola University. She is bilingual and a native of Chicago. She is married with one son, and lives in Chicago.
