Our Children, Our Schools gives viewers an opportunity to gain knowledge of the many challenges that students face in their classrooms – violence, lack of learning materials, parents who are not interested in the education of their children, and teachers who spend more time dealing with the distractions of unruly students than instructing the motivated students who want to learn. The in-depth special will give viewers the opportunity to learn some of the tried and true solutions to these issues.

NBC 10 News Anchor Larry Mendte shares an up close and personal interview with Paul Vallas, new CEO of the Philadelphia School District.

Other segments of the special edition include a report by NBC 10 News Anchor/Reporter Monique Braxton who looks into the impact of the newly implemented Edison Schools and how the lives of the students and their parents have been affected.

NBC 10 News Reporter Aditi Roy reports on stressed out kids. Aditi interviews high school juniors and seniors from the Cherry Hill School District. The students discuss the pressure of getting into a good college, and the frustration and anxiety they experience.

Our Children, Our Schools also focuses on the political impact of education. Education Expert and WPHT 1210 AM Radio Talk Show host Dom Giordano will outline what the Pennsylvania Governor’s race means to education in Philadelphia.
