The Times is Indiana’s second largest daily newspaper, and the largest serving Northwest Indiana.
Station officials said the partnership is a unique opportunity for NBC 5 News to provide valuable news content from an area so closely linked to the Chicago market.
“We continuously look for ways to better serve our viewers. We are particularly excited about this partnership, since it give us an opportunity to provide daily local news to our Indiana viewers ,” said Larry Wert, President and General Manager of NBC5.
The news sharing relationship will be modeled after NBC5’s partnerships with two suburban Chicago newspapers, The Daily Herald and The Daily Southtown.
“We are pleased NBC5 has chosen to partner with The Times,” said William Nangle, Executive Editor of The Times. “This partnership fills a void in Chicago television by providing news from an area that is a growing
part of the Chicago region.”
In addition to headlines Monday through Friday, The Times will cooperate in supplying NBC5 information about major breaking news in Northwest Indiana.
