NEW YORK — November 14, 2002 — Nick Faldo, Mark OMeara and NFL legend John Elway highlight the field at the ADT Golf Skills Challenge at the Boca Raton Resort & Club in Boca Raton, Fla. on Monday, November 18. The event will air on NBC Saturday and Sunday, December 28-29 from 4-6 p.m. ET. NBCs Dan Hicks, Gary Koch and Mark Rolfing will serve as the broadcast team for the ADT Golf Skills Challenge.
Craig Stadler, Nick Price, Peter Jacobsen, Bryce Molder, Matt Kuchar and Ty Tryon round out the field at the ADT Golf Skills Challenge. Elway, one of the best golfers on the Celebrity Players Tour will try and match his golf skills with the Tour’s best. This is the first time in the history of the event that a non PGA Tour golfer will test their skills against the field.
The ADT Golf Skills Challenge, now in its 11th year, is a unique event that matches eight of the PGA Tours best stars in a two-day competition. In the ADT Golf Skills Challenge, the PGA Tour players are tested through a series of nine skills: long drive, greenside bunker, putting, long iron, trouble shot, pitch shot, fairway bunker, short iron and chip shot.
Each player has three shots per skill with only his best counting toward the prize money attached to each one. All eight players will wear NBC microphones as part of an elaborate production that showcases great shot making and player personalities more than any other televised golf event.
Each skill is worth $50,000 with 1st through 8th place prize money ranging from $10,000 to $5,000. The player with the most overall prize money at the end of the competition will receive a $50,000 bonus. Past champions include Nick Price, Vijay Singh, Lee Janzen, Gary Player, Peter Jacobsen and Billy Andrade
