preview / download IRISH TAKE ON WOLFPACK IN FIRST EVER MEETING BETWEEN THE TWO SCHOOLS IN FOOTBALL
NEW YORK – Dec. 23, 2002 – NBC Sports presents the Toyota Gator Bowl featuring No. 11 Notre Dame (10-2) and No. 17 N.C. State (10-3) on New Years Day at 12:30 p.m. ET from Alltel Stadium in Jacksonville, Fla. The January 1st match-up between the Irish and the Wolfpack marks the first time in history that the two schools have met in football.
The Irish are looking for their first bowl victory in six tries. Notre Dames last bowl victory was a 24-21 win over Texas A&M in the 1994 Cotton Bowl. N.C. State, making its third consecutive bowl trip, is looking for the second bowl win in three years. The Wolfpack won the Micron PC Bowl in the 2000 season, defeating Minnesota, 38-30.
NBCs Mike Breen (play-by-play), Pat Haden (analyst), Dave Burns and Marty Snider (sideline reporters) will call the game from Jacksonville.
